DEI Consulting Rate Calculator
Not sure what to charge? Set the kind of work, the size of the organization and your experience, and get a realistic day-rate range in seconds. The course covers how to turn that into a fee a client agrees to.
An estimate to anchor a conversation, built from the ratios between different kinds of work rather than from survey data. Your real rate depends on your costs, your utilisation and what the work is worth to that client, which is what the course teaches you to work out.
Learn how to price the workWhat actually moves the rate
A rate that wins the work and still pays you comes down to four things: what kind of work it is, how large the organization is, what you bring to it, and the market you sell into. Quote too low and you fund the client's programme out of your own time. Quote high with nothing behind the number and you lose the work to somebody who can explain theirs.
- The kind of work sets the preparation. A facilitated day carries design and write-up around it; an audit carries analysis; ongoing advisory carries neither in the same volume.
- The size of the organization changes the number of stakeholders, review cycles and approvals behind an identical-looking day.
- Your experience and credentials shorten the conversation about whether you can do it, which is worth money in itself.
- Your market moves everything up or down according to what is normally paid there.
The course turns this into a rate you can defend line by line, and covers the fee conversation itself, which is where most of the money is actually lost.
Rate calculator FAQs
How much do DEI consultants charge?
Rates vary far more than in most consulting fields, because the work runs from a half-day workshop to a year of strategy support and the buyers range from a twelve-person charity to a listed company. The calculator gives you a starting range built from the ratios between kinds of work, not from survey data, and the course teaches you to build a rate from your own costs and utilisation instead.
Should I charge a day rate or a project fee?
Quote a project fee to the client and work it out from a day rate in private. A fee lets you carry the preparation and write-up that a client never sees, and it protects you when a session runs long. The day rate is the number underneath it, and it is what stops a fee being a guess.
Why does the same work cost more at a larger organization?
More stakeholders, more review cycles, more people whose agreement is needed, and a great deal more preparation. The delivered day looks identical from the outside and the work behind it is not, which is what the size multiplier stands for.
